The Procyon Insurgency
http://pi.hard-light.net/

Political instability and economic depression in two border systems resulted in their
regional governments, led by a charismatic demagogue, declaring full independence
from the GTVA in 2368. Now, a year later, a surprise incursion by this regime into
Allied systems signals the beginning of a new war.

-----------------------Installation----------------------

Installing The Procyon Insurgency (PI) is simple:

1: Create a folder called PI in your Freespace 2 directory and extract the PImain.vp
file into it.

2: If you're using the mv_effects.vp Media VP content file, extract PIeffects.vp into the
PI folder too. Do the same for PIadveff.vp (if you have the mv_adveffects.vp) and
PIassets.vp (if you have mv_models.vp, mv_textures.vp, and/or mv_assets.vp). These
files should only be extracted if you have the corresponding Media VPs.

3: Make sure that your Media VP folder is named "mediavps" and extract the included
mod.ini file into the PI folder. Start the FS2 Launcher, select the PI directory as a mod
and load up the game.

4: Create a new pilot (or clone an existing one) before playing PI to avoid any potential
problems with conflicting tables.

A few additional remarks:

1: As of April 27, 2007, PI requires FS2 Open 3.6.9 RC7.9X to run without any problems.
All newer builds, including 3.6.9 Final, exhibit a few bugs in this campaign. The RC7.9X
build is available on the PI website.

2: At the moment, PI does not support mv_music.vp and will show no benefit from that
addon file. A large update for mv_music.vp is in the works and there will be a new version
of PI compatible with it once it is released.

3: The FS2 speech synthesis should be disabled. Although it will work in PI, the missions
have not been designed with it in mind and strange effects may occur with the message
sychronization. The missions have been designed to make the ingame messages as
readable as possible.

------------------Gameplay Notes-------------------

1: Most of the missions give you special "bonus points" for completing extra secondary or
bonus objectives. You will see an indicator on your HUD when you accomplish an objective
that gives a bonus point. There are a total of 20 bonus points in the campaign. At the end,
you will get a percentage score based on how many you acquired. If you manage to get
100%, consider yourself a true master. :)

2: You will often not fly as Alpha 1 but instead in one of the other wing positions. While
changing your ship's loadout, modify the ship highlighted in red (which designates your
ship) and not always Alpha 1 as you might be used to.

3: The properties of some ships and weapons have been slightly altered for better game
balancing. Some of the ships/weapons that were previously too underpowered or too
effective have been changed accordingly. The stats displayed in the loadout screen will
reflect this.

4: All gameplay testing was done on the medium difficulty level, but the campaign should
also work well on easy and hard.
